Divine Design
It was approximately ten days ago when I actually saw the subject of the following poem, and the simplistic beauty of it has stayed with me.
It was just a piece of bark,
once part of an aging and now fallen tree,
weather beaten, and almost crumbling,
but not quite.
It was dressed in lichen
as green as a mountain meadow,
and in its hollow center
someone had placed
a bunch of fragrant lavender.
What simplicity.
What divine design.
